Amazonian Warriors compete for Womens and Children's Rights

Four teams of super brave and fierce female warriors competed in the grueling 2018 Raid Amazone race from March 4-14th. 
Shanty Town Spirit were fortunate enough to have 10 amazing women competing and fundraising to support the women and children of our program: Daru'ma (Mani Boutard & Catherine Roux), Kabuki (Marion Jullien & Ines Cobee), Devas 1 (Isabelle Ktz, Lidwina Niewold & Grace smith), Devas 2 (Marina Korng, Mélanie Fournier Forsinetti & Clémence Lépine).

Raid Amazone is a womens-only French sporting event that takes place each year and has run in more than 10 countries. This year competitors were challenged amid the breathtaking backdrop of Cambodia's iconic national pride- Angkor Wat in Siem Reap. Sport is a great way of expressing solidarity along with testing personal capabilities.

The race involves several events to test agility and endurance including 20km trek, 40km mountain biking, 16km canoeing, orientation and archery.
