Photography - NGO : Grace Smith, my visit in Shanty Town

Such an honor to be welcomed into Boeung Trabek shanty town with Princess Ermine Norodom, founder of Shanty Town Spirit Cambodia. Without her incredible work, with the help of Prak Phirun, so many of these families and children in vulnerable communities would be at risk of human trafficking and worse.

This lovely lady is in her late 70s. She guts then dries fish outside her shack on the banks of Boeung Trabek sewage canal, and makes 500 Riel for a batch of five whole fish. Her shack consists of two pieces of ply board under another stilt wooden house. "when it floods, i have to shift my boards up so i'm not swimming in sewage. But sometimes there's nowhere else to go" Those very same fish are then sold at Boeung Trabek market for 2,000 riel ($0.5). Perspective on life. Hardships of lack of decent social welfare. Would your grandmother survive in these hard conditions? Resilience in these wonderful people inspires me everyday to do more to help
