7 years old Saronne need you

Shanty Town Spirit help to rescue a little girl of 7 years old, who definitely needs help form our donors. Her mother died in September 2020; her brother Virak is actually leaving with his handicap’s dad. They are really poor, and it’s dangerous for Saronne to keep leaving with her father, as he is co-locating the room with other men.

                                                            Maira, Saronne and her Mum

Maira, our social worker, who is already assisting another girl, offered to take her at her place. But for this action to be realized our Association needs additional funds. We managed to get fund from donors since now, but it starts to be very difficult at this point of crisis. Saronne was going to school, despite their poverty, she was in grade 6 before her mother died.
Before she died, the couple could earn just enough per month for the 2 children to go to school and to survive. Both parents were working. But since the mother died, it is not possible for the father to manage to earn enough to have the 2 kids to go to school anymore and both of the children Virak and Saronne had to collect the rubbish to help his handicap father.

                                                                  Saronne and Sothea

So, with the help of Shanty town Spirit and nice hearted people, Maira manage to take Saronne in her home to give her a decent life and a decent education. Saronne is now going to private school, she is doing school online at the moment and excel very good.

In order for her to go to school and to help Maira to give her a good life, Shanty Town Spirit needs 150 dollars per month, this amount will cover education, food, hygiene and all the other think that a little girl would need.
Before the mother died, Maira was helping this family and keep on fighting to help this poor family as much as she can. Saronne needs help right now, we are counted on generous people like you to help Shanty Town Spirit and Maira to give her a good life.
 Thank you for her.

Every woman deserves the right to feel pretty !

With the help of a few volunteers, we visited Boeung Trabek’s community (which is the first community taken over by Shanty Town Spirit). As usual, all the people were delighted to see us coming with gifts.

We proceeded to a distribution of various hygiene products, school supplies, clothes and a few jewels that had been donated to the association a few days prior by Nathy. Everybody received something special, the kids as well as the women ! The atmosphere was joyful and everyone was smiling and happy !

In the name of all the volunteers working with Shanty Town Spirit and especially the women and kids who were able to benefit her beautiful donations, we thank Nathy very much for her generosity. These kinds of moments with the community are possible thanks to all the donors like Nathy and all the volunteers !

As we can see on these pictures, everyone was enchanted by Nathy’s beautiful jewels. All the ladies managed to get one of their own, and it suited them beautifully! Because every woman deserves the right to feel pretty and feminine !

A wonderful afternoon at the Swimming Pool

Thank you to Kathleen Gees, because of her, a very nice afternoon could have been organized at the swimming pool.
All the kids were full of joy and happiness.
Sokear, once again, enjoyed to take the role of organiser.  He took the responsibility to pay attention to all the kids, helped them for the lunch, and took part of all the activities in the pool.

They all played a lot

And the lunch was delightfull

Thank you again to Kathleen, and a special thank you to Maira, who was also an asset during this afternoon.

NEW UNIFORMS FOR THE KIDS

Thank you to the WIG, Women International Group, to having had the opportunity to deliver new uniforms to our kids from the slums.
The WIG is an active group who bring a diversity of resources and experiences together for social, cultural and educational enhancement. They raise funds and donate these via grants to worthy community projects in Cambodia.  They represent a huge number of women, from various countries, who meet together every week and try their best to help the others.
We receive a donation from them.

Sokea helped us to build the list of the kids, age, heigh, school grade,  etc…  It represents a lot of work, because if sometimes the uniforms are not the correct size, Sokea help them for the exchange.

Each of them need 2 uniforms per year.
They are so happy when they receive their uniforms, it is a real gift for them to receive new clothes.
They use it on daily basis to go to school but also when they need to be well dressed.

This year, 65 kids received their uniforms, but we need more.  There are a lot more of kids who need the uniform each year.  One uniform costs 10 dollars.  Help us to be able to help more children.

Un Avenir assuré grâce à de bons résultats scolaires/Just study and believe in the future

Un Avenir assuré grâce à de bons résultats scolaires / Just study and believe in the futur

Just study and believe in the futur
How can those kids be sure to have a real futur in life ? Well the answer is simple : STUDY, and then everything becomes possible.
This is why we are helping the kids in the poor families. We give them the opportunities to study properly by keeping track of their results.
On regular basis we are visiting them, questioning them if they are going to class, if they are following additional classes for which we pay for.
And as soon as one of them is getting good results, he or she received a reward.  Most of the time they are expecting a bicycle.  But they have to be at least in the first five in class.
Having a bicycle is very important for them, they can go with it to school and it makes their life so much easier.

This is the case of Nath Putheara, who received a « certificat of appreciation » for her good marks in English.  She got her bike, pink, and was thrilled when she received it.

Others got the opportunity to do an internship in a company, Sokhear did one at Infinity Insurance.

Or we take them for a movie or to Kids city, or for a good meal.  All those things that they can’t have in their life.
There are a lot of rewards, but they have to study and get proper results
And when they face difficulties, we are giving them some additional support.  They can have support classes, so that they can keep on with the others.
Which is not the case for one of them, Ron, who is working really well at school, and gets very good marks, but love so much mathematics, he wants to have additional classes even though he is in the first one in class.

However it is easier to help those kids as soon as they start school, in grade one.  Like this we can be part of the entire scholarship.  It is more difficult for the kids with whom we started when the Association was created.  They were already 13 years old, so they have to get back with their delays.  Not so easy but we have success in this two.
Studying in class is the answer for a proper future.
